Tinder Lets Known Sex Offenders Use the App. It’s Not the Only One.

Match Group, which owns most major online dating services, screens for sexual predators on Match — but not on Tinder, OkCupid or PlentyofFish. A spokesperson said, “There are definitely registered sex offenders on our free products.” Full Article

More fear and hate mongering aimed at us. Can’t say I’m surprised. Does the average person actually think that SO’s use dating apps for their potential victim pool?! Please..

Who in the hell cares? Most women who use those apps are career gold diggers, social climbers and swingers looking for a sugar daddy anyway!

As much as I am not into the idea of dating in general it is still annoying, yet unsurprising to find out companies who run some of the sites automatically screen for people registered as sex offenders. Far from all “offenses” involve physical contact or conduct that a dating site/app should be concerned about. Granted I understand the practice from the business perspective is to cover their ass in case anything happens on a site/app or as a result of interactions from these services. On the flipside anyone seeking to do anything with ill intent will absolutely find a way to do what they want regardless of obstacles.

More fear-mongering for some lawmaker with a hero complex to exploit and craft yet another reactionary law and carve another notch on his belt.

I’ve been using Tinder for months and have used okc in the past with no issues other than a lack of matches. I’ve turned to online dating because I have few other options as a rather shy and somewhat socially awkward guy lacking other social connections.

I did use Tinder and met someone but I was banned after a week.
They didn’t tell me why.
I assume it was about me being on the list.

Interesting how it’s a good business decision for Match dot com (as a paid site) to remove sex offenders, but it’s not equally important for them to do that for their other free dating sites. Sounds like just a marketing ploy to me.

I think about using a dating app sometimes. But then reality comes rushing in and I think,”Why put myself thru more critic and rejection.” My emotional state is fragile as it is. Too much more pounding and I would look for the nearest tree and hang myself. Better to go through life alone and preotected by solitude than to venture into the inhumanity of modern society. I will be gone from this hell soon enough.

I have been using Tinder and OKC for several years with good success. I have met some great women and enjoyed wonderful relationships.

@ So Tired

Just wondering. Was your emotional state fragile after you got sucked into the system or were you always like this?

I have created and deleted three Tinder profiles in the past five years.

Profile 1: Met a school teacher who proclaimed she was “open minded” and “nonjudgmental”
– First date went well
– Second date went really well, even included a light kiss.
– Day after second date she dumped me because she could not date an offender because her brother is an offender, but was quick to remind me that she was not judging me.

Deleted profile 1 to contemplate the age old offender question of when to reveal.

Profile 2: Included in my profile information that I was a convicted sex offender and that I would answer any questions. Received many more matches and detailed my crime to two interested matches. Both mentioned that they were turned on by the crime and wanted me to sext with them, but never wanted to meet.

Deleted profile because I felt that the type of woman that would be good for me are the types of women who want nothing to do with me and that the women who want to be with me are the type of women I should avoid.

Profile 3: Decided to only swipe right on extremely beautiful age-appropriate women and then reveal prior to first date. Matched with several women. Each one unmatched me as soon as I revealed.

Deleted profile, went back to my ex who is married to a Corona police officer. The devil you know…..
